Tomorrow for All
Fernandez Foundation is a non-profit devoted to equitable and respectful care for women, newborns, and children.
We continuously strive towards high standards and clinical excellence in maternal and child care.
We believe we are here to serve, and serve compassionately, in the spirit of justice and inclusion. Good health and respect is everyone’s birth right, and it is our duty to uphold their dignity at every stage of life. We adhere to these values enshrined in Christian beliefs, and all our institutions conform to this thinking.
How and Where You Can Contribute
Healthcare
Donating to our healthcare initiatives will help us care for underprivileged individuals. It will also help us continue our mission of providing high-quality, respectful care to everyone, regardless of socio-economic status. We have been doing this with our model of cross-subsidisation and your generosity will bolster our efforts.
Neonatal
Care
In 2020, over 2,000 babies — that is over 21% of births at Fernandez Hospital — were admitted to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). NICU care is expensive and the costs go up when CPAP or ventilation support is provided.
The approximate charges for admission in NICU:
Level II: Rs.12,000 to Rs.14,000 per day.
Level III: Rs.16,000 to Rs.18,000 per day.
Many families find it hard to bear the costs. Your donation will help us make NICU care available to every child who needs it.
Advocacy
We believe that midwives are key to reducing India’s maternal and infant mortality ratios as well as our C-section rates. Midwives can offer care that is high quality, low cost, respectful and compassionate, and they can help pregnant women in our public healthcare systems.
Fernandez Midwifery Initiative works with the Government of Telangana to create a cadre of midwives for the state’s public hospitals. We are also working with the Government of India to build and scale up a national cadre of midwifery educators for the country.
Your donation will help us achieve our mission of training 10,000 midwives (10% of India’s needs) over the next decade.
The approximate cost for training a batch of midwives is Rs. 3,92,71,260/-
Child Development Centre
In India, 1.5%–2.5% of children are affected by developmental delays. Developmental and cognitive issues are a significant impediment when integrating children into society. However, timely intervention and support can help these children grow into self-reliant, productive adults.
At Fernandez Child Development Centre, we offer a full range of therapeutic and developmental support, along with ancillary therapies and services at a comparatively nominal price.
Your donation will allow us to support more children in need, helping them overcome their disabilities in the best possible way.
Education
& Training
Nurses and midwives are the backbone of our maternal healthcare system. We are committed to offering skills-based training that helps women enter the workforce and lead a life of respect and dignity. Your contribution will support women on their journey to self-reliance and will help build a well-trained healthcare system.
The 18-month Post Basic Diploma in Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery training costs Rs. 4,00,000 per nurse, as per Government of India.
The Post Basic Diploma in Neonatal Nursing costs approximately Rs 1,00,000 for non-government sponsored candidates.
