Dr Evita is an obstetrician by profession and has enjoyed, for three decades, the privilege of walking with pregnant women through their journey to motherhood. Her primary focus is on respectful maternity care and empowering women with the proper knowledge to make their own birthing choices. Her vision is to establish professional midwifery in India by increasing access to high-quality maternal care for women and reducing unnecessary C-sections.
. After managing the 70-year-old Fernandez Hospital for more than three decades, Dr Evita decided to convert the private organisation into a “Not-for-Profit” Foundation. The Fernandez Foundation has several initiatives that help deliver evidence-based and equitable care for women and children:
- Fernandez Hospitals and Outpatient Clinics
- Stork Home Hospital
- Fernandez Child Development Centre
- Fernandez Midwifery Initiative (PROMISE)
- Fernandez School of Nursing
Dr Evita’s vision through the Fernandez Foundation is to ensure every pregnant woman has access to midwifery care and only if required, will seek collaborative care from obstetricians and other specialists.
