PROGRAMMES
Medical students today,
experienced practitioners tomorrow.
Education is crucial to our vision of achieving woman-centric, respectful care for mothers across the country.
It gives us the opportunity to train the next generation of healthcare professionals in an evidence-based, protocol-driven approach to medicine. This ensures that our students are equipped to deliver competent, compassionate care — wherever they are.

Academics
The Department of Academics
was established in 2003 to help
us stay abreast of advances in
medical technology and
information.
In the process of developing into a Tertiary Care Referral Centre for Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatology, Fernandez Hospital evolved into a reputed teaching hospital. Today, the hospital attracts observers and interns from across the country and the world (Bhutan, Nepal and Malaysia). It also offers international medical students the opportunity to pursue their electives and take up observerships.
The Department coordinates the various academic activities of the DNB Training Programme and the Perinatal Education Programme. It also oversees the activities of specialised training programmes such as those in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, High-Risk Pregnancy, Obstetric Anaesthesia and Neonatology.
The Department also frequently organises guest lectures by reputed national and international experts. These have helped staff and faculty at our hospitals update their knowledge and resolve their queries. Over the last few years, we have conducted regular seminars and workshops that adhered to the highest standards of academic integrity. These activities are recognised by the Telangana Medical Council and go towards the attendees’ CME hours, which are necessary to continue MCI registration.

Fernandez School Of Nursing
Midwifery, with its woman-centered focus and emphasis on respectful care, becomes an integral part of comprehensive quality maternity services. Studies (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2016) revealed that women who received midwifery care and support were less likely to experience interventions and more likely to be satisfied with their care. The Cochrane Review also showed significantly higher rates of spontaneous vaginal deliveries, lowered C-section rates and lowered risk for neonatal intensive care.
Neonatal nurses are a specialty cadre having knowledge and expertise in the care of both healthy and sick newborns. Their training includes care of healthy newborns as well as care of premature and critically ill infants in Neonatal intensive care units. They would be competent to resuscitate babies at birth, have knowledge in breastfeeding practices, possess the ability to identify sick babies and do most Neonatal procedures. They sometimes serve as primary caregivers to premature or ill newborns.
