The Department of Audiology, Fernandez Child Development Centre conducted a school hearing screening camp for children in Classes I—III (Age 6—8 years) on September 23, 2022, at Gitanjali Devashray School, Secunderabad. The objective was to identify students with hearing problems or who may be at risk for hearing problems. Since hearing problems are invisible, children affected by it may appear to be inattentive in class, which could cause academic problems.

With Ms. Sandhya heading the camp and Ms. Priyanka coordinating, a total of 236 students were screened by Ms. Sandhya, Mr. Naresh, Ms. Shabeena, Ms. Lydia and Ms. Karunika. The hearing screening included ear examination and Pure Tone Audiometry (screening for hearing acuity). 17 students were referred for further evaluation.
