Innovation plays a key role in helping us achieve this. We explore new technologies and techniques and improve upon existing ones. We are also vocal about promoting evidence-based innovations beyond the Fernandez ecosystem.
Our goal is to leverage new and improved inventions to spark systemic change and create a woman-centric maternal health system.
Professional
Midwifery
Midwives are key to reforming the maternal healthcare system in India. They advocate natural birthing for low-risk women and are trained to deliver woman-centric, respectful care. At Fernandez, we offer midwifery care at each of our units. We also conduct professional midwifery training programmes and actively champion the cause.
Kangaroo
Mother Care
Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) is a cost-effective method of caring for premature babies. It facilitates skin-to-skin contact between mother and child and results in faster weight gain, increased rates of breastfeeding, and quicker recovery time. Fernandez was the first to introduce KMC to India and we continue to advocate its use.
Human Milk

Mother’s milk is loaded with natural nutrients that are crucial to help newborns heal and grow. Fernandez runs Human Milk Banks to ensure that every child that requires human milk receives it. Excess milk is collected from lactating mothers and is pasteurised, treated, and stored safely in these milk banks.
